Living My Life Project
The Office of the Public Advocate is partnering with the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and SA Department of Health and Wellbeing to work on a major project called Living My Life. Living My Life has been funded by the national Mainstream Capacity Building (MCB) Program (Community Grants Hub, on behalf of the National Disability Insurance Agency).
The proposed outcome of Living My Life is that people with disability, especially those with impaired decision making capacity, benefit from a supported decision making approach and have access to hospital settings in a way that supports their current and future life and health care wishes. It is also anticipated that workers in the disability sector will report improved levels of personal wellbeing and resilience upon the completion of the SAHMRI Be Well training program.
This project will involve collaborative activities that enhance a supported decision-making framework within the SA Office of the Public Advocate, including the development of guidelines and improving health care interface practices with SA Health. It will also involve resilience training activities aimed at improving the wellbeing of workers and participants of the NDIS.
